The Interview Is The Snort-Inducing Stoner Comedy You Hoped For, Not A Regime Killer

Like any good Rogen/Franco comedy, The Interview made me snort unbecomingly (okay, I guess there is no other way to snort unless you are JGL, because those dimples will make you see past anything).

The Interview

Was it an earth-shattering artistic takedown of a dictatorial regime that, if airdropped into North Korea like that South Korean dude promised, will ultimately break the hypnosis of the North Korean people and lead to the ultimate shaming of Kim Jung Un? Here are a few clues to help you figure that out:

  1. Seth Rogen spent a good ugly-snort-inducing five minutes shoving a huge drone-dropped vessel in his butthole.

  2. The abundance of Lord of the Rings jokes make it more likely that the film was meant as a love letter to Stephen Colbert than anything else.

  3. James Franco was in it.

Listen, grumpy bloggers. Sony never promised this movie was going to be anything other than what it is – a stoner comedy. I may not be a stoner, but maybe I am one at heart, because I thought it was hilarious. It’s another example of Seth Rogen coming up with a stupid joke we would all throw around while drunk or stoned with our best buddies but never actually say to a room full of educated people – and that’s why it’s so funny.

If you (and by you I mostly mean the previously mentioned grumpy bloggers) are looking for a political gesture to sink your teeth into, Sony’s decision not to cave to terrorist threats and instead release the film for anyone with good internet access to readily view is what you should be taking in.
